DAY 1: PERU - LIMA

WELCOME TO PERU! ASSISTANCE AT YOUR ARRIVAL AND ENJOY THE TRADITIONAL LIMA CITY TOUR.

When your plane lands in Lima, our staff will be waiting in order to take you to your hotel in the Miraflores or San Isidro neighborhoods.

Lima is an incredible combination of colonial and modern history. We will take a tour of the city which will start between 14:15hrs and 14:30hrs. Our tour starts in Huaca Pucllana which was a ceremonial and administrative Pre-Incan building.

Then, we will visit the city center where you can find the Cathedral of Lima, Francisco Pizarro’s tomb, the catacombs of the Monastery of San Francisco, the National Congress and the Palace of Torre Tagle.

We will also get to visit the residential neighborhoods of San Isidro and Miraflores, where you can enjoy beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean.

At 18:30, we will finish our tour in Kennedy Park in Miraflores. At this time, you may like to enjoy a nice dinner in one of the many nearby restaurants and see some of the city’s nightlife. Alternatively, we can arrange to drop you off at your hotel.

DAY 2: LIMA - CUSCO

ENJOY THE TRADITIONAL CUSCO CITY TOUR AND EXPLORE THE MOST IMPRESSIVE ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES.

In the morning, we will pick you up and escort you to Lima International Airport where you will take an hour and 10 minute flight to Cusco.

Once you arrive to Cusco, Machu Travel Peru staff will assist you and take you to your hotel.
Cusco is located in Peru’s highlands 12,000ft above sea level so it is best to take some time to acclimatize your body by drinking coca tea and taking it easy.

Later, you will be picked up to start a tour of the city of Cusco. First, we will have a guided tour of the Cathedral of Cusco, a real jewel of colonial art.

Then our tour will continue to Qorikancha (The Temple of the Sun) as well as to several impressive archeological sites in the city such as Sacsaywaman, Qenqo, Pukapukara, and Tambomachay.

This tour will finish at around 18:30hrs when you will be dropped to the main square or to your hotel, depending on what you feel like doing.

DAY 3: SACRED VALLEY - MACHU PICCHU

TRADITIONAL SACRED VALLEY TOUR AND A STROLL THROUGH THE TYPICAL PISAQ MARKET.

You will begin the day by having a delicious breakfast at your hotel.

Between 08:00hrs and 08:20hrs, your transportation will pick you up to start a day tour of the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

Our first stop will be the town of Pisaq, an amazing Incan archaeological site which boasts magnificent terraced fields. Among its crops are a wide variety of corn, kiwicha and hundreds of kinds of potatoes.
We will also get to visit the town’s traditional market, famous for its beautiful handicrafts. Local people and their customs have not changed much in this place over the last 300 years.

Then, we will travel to Urubamba, one of the major agricultural locations for the Incas due to its special climate and geographic qualities.

Here, we will enjoy an exquisite buffet lunch while surrounded by the Andes Mountains.

After lunch, we will go to the Incan village and archeological site of Ollantaytambo. Incredibly, most of its buildings, which were built by different Incan rulers, still remain today.

Finally, we will take you to the train station where you will take a train to the town of Aguas Calientes.

Once in Aguas Calientes, our staff will be there to escort you to your hotel.

DAY 4: MACHU PICCHU - CUSCO

PRIVATE TOUR IN MACHU PICCHU AND TRAIN BACK TO CUSCO.

Today is the day! In the early hours of the morning, we will start our tour to the sacred Incan citadel of Machu Picchu.

Our private tour of one of the Seven Wonders of the World will last for 2 hours. We will explore the mysteries and magic of the sacred Incan citadel of Machu Picchu by visiting the many different zones of the city and its main attraction like the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Sundial, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of Three Windows and various cemeteries.
Wayna Picchu Mountain, overlooking the city, can also be climbed if you have purchased an entrance ticket in advance (If you want to climb this mountain, let us know in advance as there are just 400 spots per day. Wayna Picchu entrance not included).

We will have lunch at the restaurant located at the entrance to Machu Picchu or in any of the other restaurants in Aguas Calientes where we will return to after our tour of Machu Picchu.

Later, you will go to the train station from where you will start your return to Cusco by train.

Upon arrival to the relevant train station, a member of our staff will escort you to your hotel in the city of Cusco.

DAY 5: CUSCO – PUERTO MALDONADO

FLIGHT TO PUERTO MALDONADO AND INMERTION INTO THE AMAZON JUNGLE ADVENTURE.

After you have a delicious breakfast at your hotel, our staff will escort you to Cusco International Airport where you will take a 45 minute flight to Puerto Maldonado.

Upon your arrival to Puerto Maldonado, Machu Travel Peru staff will be waiting to transfer you to the port where we will take a boat to the jungle lodge. On the boat, we will be surrounded by breathtaking scenery and will witness a truly wonderful display of wildlife.

After arriving to the Lodge, you will enjoy a welcome drink before having some time to get settled in your bungalow. Then, we will have lunch together.

In the afternoon, a specialized tour guide will lead us on an interpretive trek along the Caimán Cocha, a conveniently signposted trail.

In the evening, we will witness the spectacular sunset of the Amazon, an intensive experience full of overwhelming colors

Upon returning to the lodge, an exquisite dinner will be awaiting you before you go to bed.

Meals included: Breakfast, lunch and dinner.

DAY 6: TAMBOPATA NATIONAL RESERVE

A DAY ENJOYING JUNGLE EXCURSIONS, RIVER OTTERS, TOUCANS, SLOTHS, MONKEYS AND CANOPY VIEWS!

First, enjoy a fresh breakfast in your fantastic lodge because you are about to begin a fantastic adventure through the Virgin Forest, accompanied by an experienced, local guide.

We will then explore the majestic Lake Apu Victor with its crystal clear waters and surrounded by marshes and giant trees.

Afterwards, we will go to an observation deck and enjoy a panoramic view of the lake. From this deck, we will be able to observe species of birds like parrots, macaws, toucans, camungos, shanshos, herons and other animals such as caimans, turtles etc. After several hours, we will head back to the lodge and enjoy lunch together.

In the afternoon, accompanied by our expert guide, we will visit Monkey Island, a unique place in the heart of the Madre de Dios River, five minutes from the lodge.
During the hike, we will observe extraordinary landscapes with exuberant flora, sheltering a variety of monkey species in their natural habitat.
We will be able to identify species of monkeys like maquisapas, capuchins, small lion monkeys, frailes, cotos and other wildlife species such coati, sloths and a large variety of birds.

Finally, we will complete our visit to the island by enjoying the sunset and the most impressive dusk in the jungle. Back at the lodge, we will conclude the day with a pleasant dinner.

DAY 7: PUERTO MALDONADO - LIMA

FAREWELL AND DEPARTURE FLIGHT FROM PUERTO MALDONADO BACK TO LIMA

Depending on the weather, our guide will take us on an original activity in the morning or will simply let us rest and enjoy the accommodation. After, we will go to Puerto Maldonado Airport, in order for you to catch your departing flight.

Once you arrive to the airport, our program will conclude.

Meals included: Breakfast.
